Ella Wilhelm began her career singing mezzo-soprano roles. Her repertoire mainly included Baroque-era compositions, from Monteverdi and Frescobaldi to J.S. Bach and Handel. These days, Ella’s Bel Canto technique training together with a wide vocal range and flexibility allow her to perform both soprano and mezzo-soprano roles. Over the last three years, her repertoire has included diverse compositions, from early music through the twenty-first century. One her main interests as a soloist is Russian music from the end of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly the vocal compositions of Modest Mussorgsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Dmitri Shostakovich.
